Today I had my assessment in class. At first, Mr. Sadrakh wanted us to stay outside, and the students will perform one by one, with only the teachers as the audience. But in the end, we all stayed inside and watched each other perform. We were given a 10- minute last practice to perfect our song compositions and tune our instruments (for violin and guitar). After that, violin students went first. Then the piano students. I played okay, but I pressed a note wrong, but then I continued playing so my song would sound natural and so it would seem like there was nothing wrong. Then the guitar students went next, the guitar students played good. Last but not least, the flute students went to perform in front of the class. They were also good. We were given this booklet thing to write our reflection and explain how we performed. We filled it, and then we gave it to the teachers. After class, I asked Ms. Melvina what score I got and she said I got a perfect 10. I was so happy. There was no instrument class today due to the assessment of playing our melody composition.

Today after attendance Mr. Sadrakh asked us if we already memorized our own composition melody yet, and some of us said no. I didn't yet, either. He gave us all a 10-minute practice for the practice test. This is a practice for the real assessment which is on Monday. So after the 10-minute practice, some of us are called in front of the class to play our own melody composition. I played my melody composition, and I got some mistakes. My homework is to practice for my assessment next week, and to memorize my own melodt composition.

May 16, 2011, Monday

Today three people were absent and didn't come to music class. So after attendance, some of the people played their own compositions in front of the class. Some did very badly, and Mr. Sadrakh told them to practice at home so they could play better next time. The occasional times when the microphone makes contact with skin and it buzzes automatically made the class laugh. I didn't do anything in theory class today, only watch my friends play their composition. In instrument class, we played our melody in front of Ms. Melvina. Ms. Melvina played my song first to try to see if it is good, and she said my composition is not really easy to play because the tempo was very different from part a and part b. All of us in piano class played our compositions in front of ms. melvina so she could help us and tell us how to play better for the assessment as usual.

May 12, 2011, Thursday

Today is the written test about John Williams, so after attendance, Mr. Sadrakh gave us a 10-minute time for us to study right before the test. I studied really hard because I didn't study a lot yesterday, only looking through at the worksheet. Today in the written assessment, I thought I was about to fail and write only a few things, but surprisingly I wrote a lot in the test, and I am surprised myself that I could manage to remember a lot of things only in a few minutes time. I wrote around 400 words in the written test, and I filled in the reflection in the reflection box at the last page of the exam paper. Mr. Sadrakh also read aloud some of our reflections to the whole class. We didn't have instrument class today due to the test.

Today in music class, after attendance, Mr. Sadrakh made us read the worksheet about John Williams to prepare for the test which is this Thursday. Some of us were asked to read and answer some questions. The written assessment is next week so I have to re-read the worksheet and get ready for it.
In instrument class, today we practiced our melody compositions in front of Ms. Melvina. Ms. Melvina also told them how to play better. I didn't play in front of Ms. Melvina, only my other friends because we didn't have much time. I need to play and practice my composition more and try to memorize it for the assessment.

Today after attendance Mr. Sadrakh asked us all to play our own compositions in front of the class. The guitar students played their songs first. Mr. Sadrakh taught us how to be more disciplined and harworking. After the guitar students, violin students went next. They all played really good, but some doesn't appear to be prepared enough. The piano students went next. I think I played okay, but I barely practiced. I didn't memorize the song yet, though. I have to memorize it for the assessment or else I wouldn't get a perfect score. The woodwind/flute students went last. All students in this class didn't memorize their songs yet, and we're all a bit not prepared. My homework is to learn to play better and memorize the song. I think I'm going to play much better next time. We didn;t have time for the instrument class because the rehearsal took the whole 2 sessions.

May 2, 2011, Monday

Today Mr. Sadrakh took the attendance and we practiced our own composition in front of the whole class. Only some of us did, including me, and we were given an extra point. Then he told us that we should give the drafts of our reflection and the drafts of our own composition to him, and it's due next Thursday. Then he reminded us that we are going to have two assessments for the melody playing and the written assessment about John Williams on May 19 and May 12.
In our instrument class, some of us practiced our composition because we are going to have the playing our own melody assessment on May 19. Ms. Melvina said I should try playing it better next time without mistakes.

april 28 2011 thursday

after attendance, mr sadrakh taught us more about john williams. we listened to some of his compositions from the movie theme songs such as starwars, superman, e.t, harry potter, indiana jones, jurassic park, and more. mr. also covered the screen so we can guess which movie did the song come from.
in instrument class, ms. melvina asked us to practice the melody. we also played our songs with our other classmates.

today mr. sadrakh is absent so he was replaced by mr. heri and mr. harry. we were given a worksheet on john williams, he is a famous movie theme song composer. he composed the theme song of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and so much more. He got a large amount of awards. He inspired our class to make a good composition. today in instrument class, ms. Melvina commented about my composition. she said it's good, but my part b of my composition is a bit confusing and hard to play.

April 18, 2011 Monday

today is the due date of the finale. mr. sadrakh checked our homework. a lot of my friends didn't do it yet, so I, as the class captain I have to jot down the people's names, their reasons, and their solutions. I am done with mine, but I found some errors in my work and asked Mr. Sadrakh if I could fix those errors and give it to him the next day. He said it is okay. In instrument class, we had fun by playing our own compositions, and gave comments about other's composition. Vivienne and I noticed that one of our friend's composition is copied from a song called TongHua. But we're not sure if we wanted to tell her about it just yet..

April 14, 2011, Thursday

Today Mr. Sadrakh checked the attendance, and checked our homework as well. Most of the students from grade 7b didnt do their 32-bar composition, but I did. After the homework check, Mr. Sadrakh demostrated using the FINALE software, so we all know how to put our work into finale. Since I got the job of giving the software to some of my friends, Mr. told me that they should ask for the software from me. In instrument class, Ms. Melvina helped us all with writing the left-hand, since we all only did the right hand.

April 7 2011 Thursday

Music Theory Class Mr. Sadrakh checked our composition today. I did 16 bars, but it was only a draft, and I want to edit it and make it better next time. Then Mr. Sadrakh started checking the compositions from random people. Thankfully, he didn't check mine because it was already time for instrument class. I have to finalize my composition and edit it to make it nicer. Piano Class Today in instrument class, I played my composition in front of Ms. Melvina. She helped me fix my composition, and she said I should add on it. I need to correct my composition..

April 11 2011 Monday

Today after the attendance, (no one was absent..) Mr. Sadrakh told us all our scores. My scores are good but not good enough... 8, 8, 7 and 7 all over 8. Then he explained more about the finale software that we are supposed to use for our melody composition. Mr. Sadrakh said that we don't have to put lyrics if do not want to. I was relieved because I do not want to make lyrics. In instrument class, we played our songs in the piano. I edited my own composition a bit to make it better. For homework, I should make my composition better, and add it so it would be 32 bars in total. And I also should start downloading the Finale software.

April 4 2011 Monday

First day of term 4, and i'm in a foul mood. My music class has been a bit boring today without my best friend in class..... so after the attendance check, Mr. Sadrakh introduced us with the new flute teacher Mr. Ed, he will be replacing Mr. Harry for the mean time while he is in Netherlands. He explained to us the assessment, and we were given homework on making a 16-bar melody. I don't really like making melodies of my own, and i usually just put random notes everywhere. My friends still don't understand the counts of different notes, and some of them doesn't even know what a bar is-shocker- anyway I just sat around while Mr. Sadrakh explained to them stuff. Then, in instrument class, I played a song, and kind of changed some notes in my melody. My friends told me it sounded a bit like Minuet, but to me it doesn't. My melody was meant to sound sad and minor.

March 10 2011, thursday

we did our assessment today, and surprisingly, 3 people in our class are absent. assessment-phobia, i suppose, (lol) and anyway, the piano students went first and then the guitar, violin, and last but not least is the flute. i played my song, but i didnt play really well.i asked mr sadrakh so i could re do it on monday, and he said yes. my friends still clapped when im done, but i still think i did horribly. the flute people really did well, and i think they deserved a full score.

We all skipped the instrument class so we could see others play their chosen song for assessment. Everyone played, and i got a lot of mistakes, because for ome reason i forgot everything in front of the class.

Today in class we only did a little performance in front of the class so that we can prepare for the real assessment. i didnt do so well becoz i didnt practice yet, but im gonna practiv=\e at home.

Today Mr. SAdrakh wrote some notes on the board aand we are supposed to write the letters (c,d,e..) he keeps on repeating in and repeating it over and over again so my other classmates would understand but they didnt/. i alreaady understand because i answered all correctly. we skipped instrumnent class today,

First thing in music class today is the attendance. It took like about 20-30 minutes. Attendance was...blasphemical. Mostly from the stage, to one of the pupil. Today in music theory class, we re-learned scales A major and E major (3 and 4 sharps). I understood it well, but some of my classmates still hopelessly doesn't.
In instrument class today, unlike other instrument classes, I got my turn to play the piano. Ms. Melvina taught me how to play it better. I really really liked the song I chose for my assessment, A Time For Us. It was enjoyable to learn.

Today in music theory, we ((re-)) learned the notes and scales. Mr. Sadrakh tried to explain about the Treble and Bass clef over and over again. I understood it really well, but some of my classmates, obviously, didn't (sigh.-_-") . In Piano class we prepared our songs that we were going to perform for the assessment. I decided to play the famous song "A Time For Us" from the major famous movie "Romeo And Juliet" by Shakespeare. For homework, I need to find the piano partiture so I could study and practice the song.

today is the written test. the teacher gave us about 5 minutes to review. i did not study at home, so i used the 5 minute time to study and scan everything on the paper, trying to remember every single thing. I think I did well in the test (for a person who didn't study) but i missed a few details. i think i might get a bad score.

In music theory class today, we are supposed to have our written test but for some reasonit was postponed to next Monday. Mr. Sadrakh checked our blogspots by calling each names who didn't submit to him yet. I wasn't called because I already submitted my blog address. He lectured the people who didn't submit them yet. Go figure -- When we reviewed for the written test, some of us couldn't get it right. I was called and asked about Baroque. I'll study more and make sure to get a perfect score for the written test.

Mr. sadrakh told us about discipline. he told us the people who didnt make the blogspot yet (...BPs) to make the blogspot and it is due tomorrow. in instrument class, ms.melvina told us piano students that we need to play a classical song which is created by a composer who was born before the 19th century. this is kind of important and we need to prepare for it, coz the score will affect our ib score (final score)

Today I didn't attend the music class because I'm one of the people who got chosen to do the ISA test. So I skipped music theory and instrument class. My friend (who is still joining the music class) told me there are some homework, and I need to prepare for the writing test on Thursday 11 February.

In the singing assessment, I did very badly. I was very embarrassed, and i sang nervously. I got one word wrong while singing 'My Favorite Things' from the Sound Of Music. I got a 9.5/10 score. I think I was off-tune and my voice was a bit hoarse, because i was having cold and cough -_- i wanted a re-test but my next music class is the same time as the ISA test, so i couldnt do the re-test.

Today we practiced our singing with Mr. Harry, and prepared for the assessment next week. I don't sing well and I'm nervous for the assessment, though I memorized the lyrics so easily.

17 January 2011 (gr7, semester 2)

Today Mr. Sadrakh told us about the intervals in the major scale...again. Which is 1,1, 1/2, 1,1,1,1/2. (we learned this last year too.) The c major scale or also known as the natural scale, does not have sharps or flats. Sharps will increase a note by half and flats will decrease a note by half.
In my instrument class, I played the piano. My teacher Ms. Melvina helped me play better. Today is the second day of music class in grade 7 this semester
